Atlantic Road parking – where you can (and can’t) stop

Never stop on Storseisundet Bridge or on the road. It is the most common dangerous situation on the route. Park at Eldhusøya and walk.

Largest car park. Toilets all year, seasonal café. May charge a fee – pay per signs/app. Best base for Storseisundet Bridge.

Do not stop on Storseisundet Bridge or on the road – walk from Eldhusøya.
Emptying motorhome/caravan toilets is not allowed at the rest areas. Nearest dump stations: Kårvåg, Vevang, Eide, Bud, Kristiansund and Molde (National Tourist Routes).
The Atlantic Ocean Tunnel (Averøy–Kristiansund) is toll-free for cars. Kristiansund has a toll ring since May 2026.

At Eldhusøya rest area, just east of the bridge. Walk the elevated path around the island for the best angles. Never stop on or by the bridge.

Rest areas are not campsites, and emptying toilets is not allowed. Use a campsite such as Atlanterhavsveien Sjøstuer in Kårvåg or Bud Camping.
